So here's a bit more about me
I'm Richard Cook...
I was born and lived in East Dulwich, South London, before getting married and moving to Orpington and then, to Sittingbourne in Kent.
I went to school in Wallington, Surrey, and my first career choice, after leaving, was as a small offset Litho printer in Central London.
But back to photography...having learned the basics of
photography and darkroom techniques, at evening classes and taking photographs as a hobby, I got my first in-house photographer position at the
Government office who first employed me.
It all began with, photographing buildings,
dignitaries and large scale maps.
Whilst there, I attended a 3 year, day release, HND course
in professional photography and also gained my Licentiate qualification, with
the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography)
From there, and following the closure of the photographic department, in 2004, I took the opportunity to set up on my my own, photographing
the usual weddings and studio portraits.
However, my background is in Commercial and Corporate work, having
learned that at College and using it whilst at my previous job and so, that
is what I do now, almost exclusively, but I will still shoot studio portraits
when needed, although no more weddings.
