So here's a bit more about me
I'm Richard Cook...
I am a professional photographer in Kent and have been for quite a
long time.
So, what else can I tell you
about me?
I was born in the 60s and spent my first 30 years in East Dulwich, South London
before getting married moving to Orpington in Kent and then on to Sittingbourne
in 2006.
I went to school in Wallington, Surrey, and my first career choice, after leaving, was as a small offset printer in central London.
But back to photography...having learned the basics of
photography and darkroom techniques, at evening classes, I got my first photography job at the
Government office who first employed me.
So, in 1983, it all began, photographing buildings,
dignitaries and large scale maps.
Whilst there, I attended a 3 year, day release, HND course
in professional photography and also gained my Licentiate qualification, with
the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography)
I stayed with them until 2004 when the photography section
closed down and I took redundancy
From there I took the logical progression to set up my own photographing
the usual weddings and studio portraits.
However, my background is in Commercial and Corporate work, having
learned that at College and applied it whilst in my previous job and so, that
is what I now do, almost exclusively, but I will still shoot studio portraits
when needed, although not weddings anymore.
