About Me – Richard Cook, Professional Commercial Photographer

I’m Richard Cook, a professional photographer with a long-established background in commercial and corporate photography. I was born in East Dulwich, South London, later moving to St. Paul's Cray, Orpington, and eventually settling in Sittingbourne, Kent.

My journey into photography began alongside my first career as a small offset litho printer in Central London. While working full-time, I studied photography and darkroom techniques at evening classes, developing a strong foundation in visual craft. This led to my first in-house photography position at a Government office, where I photographed buildings, dignitaries, and large-scale maps.

During this time, I completed a three-year day-release HND in Professional Photography and earned my Licentiate qualification with the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography). These years shaped my passion and expertise in technical, commercial, and corporate imagery.

When the photographic department closed in 2004, I took the opportunity to establish my own photography business. Although I initially photographed weddings and studio portraits, my core focus has always been commercial and corporate photography—and that is now what I specialise in almost exclusively. I continue to offer studio portraits when required, but I no longer photograph weddings.

Today, I bring decades of experience, technical precision, and a strong commercial eye to every project—helping businesses and professionals showcase their work with compelling, high-quality imagery.
